Story Overview:
Wake up and feel the wood! In the first of a series of irresistible standalone romances from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett, a city girl rediscovers love and lust in the Alaskan wilderness.
Valentine French may be the sassiest dating columnist in New York City, but the abundance of metrosexuals in her adopted metropolis is seriously cramping her style. Where are the beefy all-American boys? Hoping to find some inspiration, Val heads to Alaska, where the men outnumber the women fifteen to one and wrestle grizzly bears for sport. Or so she can only imagine. Suddenly the most eligible bachelorette in a town full of horny lumberjacks, Val is writing her best columns ever. But if she doesn’t get her nose out of her laptop, she just might miss out on Mr. Right.
Logan Burke is the sheriff of the little podunk town that Val finds so charmingly backward. He’s not that different from the guys she’s using for her little experiment; it’s just that one date would never be enough for Logan. As he listens to Val complain about love over beers in the local tavern, he realizes that she can’t see the forest for the trees. Because if she would ever give up her Prada bags and fourteen-dollar martinis, Logan would give her the only luxury that matters: his heart.

My Review:
This book was just pure, hot fun.

Valentine is a socialite of NYC. She writes a blog about romance and dating...something that has gotten a bit stale in her life. She's bored with the common, metrosexuals that she dates constantly. There has to be more than guys that are more into their looks than she is. Discussing the issue with her best friend, Jeremy, he suggests that she might need a change of scenery and she ends up in a small town in Alaska...where the men ARE different and definitely don't disappoint.

Logan is everything that is a man in Alaska. He's the chief of police and the mayor of this small town. He's also incredibly charming, good looking, and extremely well-endowed to boot. He has no idea what Valentine is up to, but like every other guy in town, he's fascinated by her. The difference is, she's also intrigued by him.

This book was a lot of really sexy fun. Valentine is not repressed when it comes to sex and men. She was so much fun to read and since Logan knows what he's doing, the sex scenes between them are seriously hot. This is a fish out of water story. Valentine is a rich socialite. She has no idea in the rough tundra of Alaska, but one of the things that I liked about her is that she didn't try to fake her way through it. When she was in over her head, she just laughed and did her best. That endeared her to almost everyone in this small town. She's able to laugh at herself.

I liked this one a lot. Both the characters are interesting, and the whole setup is fun. I liked the idea of Valentine's Couch, Valentine's online blog and liked that a few of her blog posts were actually in the book. The story was fun and entertaining. I'm happy I got to read it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
