Story Overview:
Handsome and tough Jake Tanner, a veteran and the owner of a successful security firm, never lets his past hold him back. Despite his prosthetic hand and foot, women swoon over him—and with him between the sheets. Yet Jake feels bored and restless…until he’s hired to protect a beautiful writer whose life is in terrible danger.

Self-imprisoned by the fear of the anonymous stalkers who threaten her life, video-game writer Natalie Beck now only dreams of the world outside her pink-bedecked apartment. Trusting people again is off-limits. But the more time Jake spends with her, the more his professional commitment evolves from simple duty to scorching desire. While deeply sensual sparks ignite between the two, the danger outside circles closer. Will Jake’s intense devotion be enough to save Natalie? Or will she turn away from the one man willing to do anything to save her?
My Review:
Okay, this is a story that astounded me in just how creative and good it really was. I LOVED this story. Wow...so creative. HUGE, GIGANTIC KUDOS to Jen Frederick for this incredible story.

Okay...so this story features an agoraphobic heroine. Yeah, you heard that right...she's terrified of leaving her apartment. To the point that she will have a panic attack, throw up, and pass out if she tries. BUT she has a very good reason for that...someone is terrorizing her. After three years, her cousin is tired of it and hires Jake's company to find her stalker and protect her.

But what Jake does is fall in love with her. See, Jake is a former Army Ranger who lost both his left arm and leg in Afghanistan. He knows a bit about the long-term effects of PTSD. As a result, he can see Natalie for who she really is...not just her sickness. In the same way, she sees him as perfection incarnate despite his lost limbs. They're perfect together...maybe someday they'll be able to be in the same room together.

Do you see it now? Why this book is so brilliant? It's just so unlikely that this relationship could ever work, but Jen Frederick weaves it incredibly well. Not only is their romance believable, but it's also beautiful and hope-filled. I loved these two together. They really are perfect for one another. When no one else believes in Natalie, Jake does. He sees her strength and the fact of the matter is...even if she never gets better, he can live with that because he loves her unconditionally.

I loved this book. I thought it was brilliant and completely creative. I applaud Jen Frederick for writing it and making the chemistry between the two leap off the page. From the moment I started reading it, it was obvious that this book was something special and I barely put it down until I hit the final page. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

Note: while I loved this book and story, that cover is just dismal. Ugh...why, why, why? There could have been so much done to create a cover just as attractive as the story.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
