Story Overview:
The full, sexy, New Adult version of RIDE, the novella featured in Stone, At Your Service, Carolina Bad Boys series.

College man Jase Everly has bad boy written all over him. Rides a motorcycle? Check. Has tats? You bet. Couldn't give a shit about rules? He's all over that.

When he's cut off from the oil baron family funds, he finds a new way to support his education, his bike habit, his bad habits. And his business venture is nothing he's proud of.

Top-notch student Avery Greene is a good girl. Deans List, never missed a class, straitlaced material. She's on the college fast track until one night and one jock destroy her life. She hides inside her sweaters. She buries her nose in her books.

She ignores the pain inside her, and she's sure she hates Jase from the moment she lays eyes on him.

The problem is—Avery needs someplace to stay, and Jase wants a roommate. They’re enemies at first sight. Now they’re going to live together.

Roomies? Maybe.
Romance? Never.
That’s what she said.

Please note: This story includes a discussion of rape. This painful conversation is necessary for the growth of the couple's relationship.

My Review:
I read Stone and have to admit that I didn't expect to enjoy this novella as much as I did. I absolutely fell in love with Avery and Jase and their journey to find their HEA.

Jase is the terminal bad, tattooed, unattainable...the big man on campus. But for all of that, he's lonely so he advertises for a roommate. Avery answers that ad after an incident at the dorms means she can't stay there anymore for her mental well-being. Jase sees in Avery innocence and purity that he craves. He also senses that she needs a safe place to feel sheltered.

Their relationship starts out as a friendship, although the chemistry is always sizzling between them. Jase knows Avery deserves better than him so he tries to resist the allure of her...even though he is constantly propositioning her. He never thinks she'll actually take him up on it.

This story isn't a new one in the romance world, but that didn't affect my enjoyment of it. I loved almost every moment of reading this story. Rie writes gritty males in such a fabulous, heart-stopping manner. I love her guys...and would love to meet any of them in a dark, seductive alley. *ahem*...but I digress. Jase is sexy and such a bad-boy while at the same time he's loving and caring and handles Avery with such love. I challenge anyone to read this story and not fall in love with him. It's another great book from Rie Warren. At this point, I know when I pick up her books, I am going to be swept away in the story and not want to come up for air until "the end"...and I'm okay with that.

Note: there were several issues that happened with the characters in this book that simply were resolved too easily in my opinion in the story. I understood why the author chose to write the book that way...for the sake of sexiness and brevity. It nonetheless did cause me to pause my reading several times and think. As a result that dropped my rating from a 5 star to a 4 star.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
