Story Overview:
A satisfying category romance from Entangled's brand new Lovestruck imprint…

Former Marine MacArthur Patton has made a small fortune on top-secret government contracts and black-ops missions, but his new assignment involves something more dangerous—marriage.

Well, fake marriage anyway.

To keep weapons out of the hands of terrorists, Mac has to secure a fiancée. A sweet, demure, compliant fiancée to serve as his arm candy for a few weeks while he completes the covert arms deal in Mexico. His sister claims to know just the woman, and sends her best friend to play the role.

"Sweet" and "demure" aren't in Kelli Landers's repertoire. A badass veterinarian who neuters big dogs and bigger men on a regular basis, she can't wait to bring Mr. Tall-Dark-and-Detached to his knees. Her longtime crush on the commitment-phobe makes her plan to seduce him even sweeter.

Love wasn't part of the plan, but the deeper Mac and Kelli fall into their ruse, the more danger they attract, until more than just their hearts are on the line…
My Review:
I’ve been excited about this book ever since I met Mac and Kelli in MARINE FOR HIRE. The book featured more action-packed adventure than I expected, but the sparks between the two of them were just as explosive. I loved getting to watch these two interact.

Mac is one of those alpha male characters that I absolutely adore. This is a guy who’s learned how to shut off all emotion, but somehow Kelli is the only person that manages to burrow under his very impressive walls. And the thing is…she’s not trying to. She has almost as many walls as him. The difference is that she knows that those walls are weakened around him. But because she knows this, she thinks she can protect herself from getting emotionally involved.

To explain to you how incredible this book is…there are two main characters.

1.       1. Alpha male with military, black-ops, undercover ties who tries to keep everyone around him safe, even at incredible risk to his own life.
2.       2. A tough, savvy, smart heroine who lops off cat balls throughout the majority of the book and seems to take a bit of pleasure through the act.  (she’s a veterinarian)

And let me just state right now that the research that Tawna Fenske had to do for this book is incredible. From the cat testicle removals to the laugh-out-loud hysterical lizard penis scene…the details were WAY above par for what a writer should know about veterinary medicine without making it anywhere close to boring.

I fell in love with Mac for the glimpses of vulnerability we got to see of him. I fell in love with Kelli for the show of tenacity and strength we got to see of her. They are a perfect couple and watching them interact, watching Mac get to really know and fall for her, watching them both get devastated by emotions…it was just a beautifully romantic book. I really liked it. It was definitely another great one from Tawna Fenske.
