Story Overview:

She's got three rules:

1. Trust no one… Eve Edens has been abandoned, used, or manipulated by almost everyone she's ever met. Born into ridiculous wealth, she's dealt with the petty jealousies and sordid little resentments for nearly thirty years. But after three botched attempts on her life, she can no longer ignore the truth. Someone wants her dead.

2. Avoid the bad boys at all costs… William "Wild Bill" Reichert, the wonderfully sexy boy who abandoned her years ago, is back in town. Only he's no boy. Now he's a covert operative - and he's all man. When Eve hires Bill to help her discover who is behind the attacks, Bill soon comes to suspect it's someone much closer to Eve than she dares to believe.

3. And never fall for the same ruse twice… The search for the killer takes Bill and Eve deep into the dark secrets and strange world of the rich and famous, and into the heart of red-hot passion re-ignited by the peril that threatens to consume them both. But does Eve dare risk her heart on Bill a second time?

My Review:
Loved this story! Billy and Eve have a history that makes it extremely painful for either of them to be around the other. Twelve years ago, something happened that destroyed their relationship and ended with Eve getting married to the "wrong" guy. At the time, Eve was a pushover. Since then, she likes to think that she's gotten stronger. She doesn't want to be that shy, retiring girl that everyone can push around any more. That's why it's doubly infuriating that no one takes her seriously when she tells the police that someone is trying to kill her. As a last resort, she goes to Wild Bill for help.

Billy doesn't want to be anywhere near Eve. It still hurts to be near her after she unceremoniously dumped him and married someone else at 18. But the evidence proves that she's right and he can't stand by and watch her get targeted so he steps up.

Well, you know when two people have this much of a hard time simply being around each other after so long that they are definitely going to combust when they get together. The book did not disappoint in that regard. I liked both of these two characters a lot, but I loved Eve and how she has taken charge of her life. She's a sweet shy character on the surface, but the girl is tough when she has to be. I loved how she constantly surprised all the guys in the story with how strong she could really be. It definitely made her a heroine that I could love.

Another thing I also really loved about this story was Ace and Mac. They are another two members of BKI. Mac is definitely going to be paired up with Delilah....there were some serious fireworks between them in this book. Then Ace is gay. I'm really hoping that we get our first m/m in this series with his character. I loved both these guys and that we got to see some of the scenes and the events happening to Eve and Billy through their POV. It was a great thing for me as the reader in this story.

Every single one of the books in this series have been great, and this one did not disappoint. Love the BKI team...motorcycle, undercover alphas....seriously such an amazing premise for a series and Julie Ann Walker continues to rock it with the amazing story lines!
