Hidden in plain sight…
Former Marine sniper and current NSA agent Jack Stone has a new face to go with his new identity. But he still has the same tortured memories—which include the woman he let get away years ago, when they were teenagers. Now his new assignment in Miami will put him so close to the woman he’s never been able to forget, he could reach out and touch her—if only she weren’t under suspicion.
When Sophie Moreno uncovers evidence linking the medical supply company she works for with arms smuggling—and worse—she doesn’t know who to turn to. After a shocking betrayal, she realizes the only person she can trust is a mysterious new person in the company—a man with hauntingly familiar eyes.
As Sophie questions her intense attraction to this man and Jack struggles not to blow his cover, the two of them must race against the clock to stop terrorists from killing scores of people—starting with them.

My Review:
Ten years ago, they were everything to one another. At eighteen and seventeen respectively, Sam and Sophie, were two kids trying to struggle through the foster system. Sam aged out so he joined the marines. Sophie had two more months before she could join him...and then their world came crashing down. They never saw each other again.

For Sam, he became an elite Marine sniper and with his lack of family, was the perfect candidate to become a top secret agent, one that required a whole new identity. So "Sam" died in Afghanistan and he became Jack. When a case comes up, Jack's boss sees it as a way for Sam to close those doors that he left behind. He knows about Sophie and knows that for Jack to move on, he needs that closure so he sends Jack on a mission that puts him where he has to have some closure with Sophie.

Sophie mourned Sam. She still mourns Sam and regrets those final harsh words between them, but she has a different life now. It's not great, but it's rewarding. The one problem is that her boss is really stressed, so Sophie decides to take things into her own hands to relieve some of that stress. That puts her in the cross-hairs of some very bad people trying to kill her and under the protection of Jack, a man that reminds her way too much of Sam.

This is a great suspense book. There is tons of action on the page that keeps it going. There's also suspense about the relationship between Jack and Sophie. It takes a long time to find out exactly what happened to them ten years ago and for Sophie to put it all together. In the meantime, they are fighting their incredible sexual chemistry that's part of their lives now as they are on the run.

It was a good book. Very emotionally satisfying as there was quite a bit of angst as you would expect from this story line. I liked the way the suspense line played out at the end. I did not see all that coming and thought it was great because even after everyone was safe, it was still a highly charged ending. It's definitely a book I would recommend. I look forward to more in the series.

I won a copy of the book from the author.
