Story Overview:
The first installment in a sexy new paranormal romance series by Larissa Ione, author of the bestselling Demonica series!

Nicole Martin was only eight years old when the vampire slaves rose up in rebellion and killed her family. Now she devotes her life to finding a vaccine against vampirism, hoping to wipe out her memories—along with every bloodsucker on the planet. But there’s one thing she cannot destroy: her searing, undeniable attraction for the one man she should hate and fear the most . . .

A member of the renegade vampire MoonBound Clan, Riker is haunted by demons of his own. When he recognizes Nicole and remembers how her family enslaved his loved ones, his heart burns for vengeance. But when he kidnaps Nicole and holds her in a secret lair, his mortal enemy becomes his soul obsession, his greatest temptation, and, perhaps, his only salvation—a hot-blooded lover who could heal him with her touch . . . or bury him forever.

My Review:
It's no secret that I am a HUGE fan of Larissa Ione's story telling style. She can weave a story like just about no one else in the romance world. So I was really excited to hear that she was starting a new series. It did not disappoint! Yay!!!

The history between these two characters is twenty years old. Then, Nicole saw Riker (a vampire) murder her nanny and best friend, Terese (also a vampire, but one who she loved)...who just also happened to be his mate. Shortly after that, Nicole's entire family was murdered by vampires and she was almost killed herself. To say she has hatred issues with the vampire race is putting it mildly. Her family just so happens to own the largest company in the world that experiments and deals with vampires and the sale of both vampires and the by-products that come from that industry...and not in a good way. It's NOT a good company and Nicole is the CEO, although her personal specialty is in vampire pathology.

The story line is a bit complex, but basically, an important vampire is stolen by Nicole's family company. Riker kidnaps her with a plan to torture her to get their vampire back. It takes a good while, but they slowly begin to see each other and the prejudices they have always had in a different light.

This is a whole new paranormal world that is different from any other vampire society you've ever read. In this world, vampires are little more than slave labor and their abuse is rampant. There are rogue clans out there though that are free. Riker is part of one of those...the Moonbound Clan. It's made up of a whole slew of characters that I loved. I can't wait to read all their stories. The world is dark, but so creative and innovative. There's a lot to it, but I never had a single moment where I was confused about what was going on. Larissa has a way of putting you into the world seamlessly.

Then there's the chemistry between Nicole and Riker. Wowza...this book is hot and steamy and so freaking sexy. The characters butt heads the whole way through...even into the HEA. That's just the way they are...they are both extremely strong-willed, but it makes the chemistry between them so hot because when they let go and feel, it's beautiful and romantic and so freaking sweet. I loved their relationship. I loved how strong Nicole stayed throughout the entire book. It would have been so easy to weaken her character as she makes realizations and I love that Larissa didn't go that route.

I loved this book and can't wait to read more... I have a feeling that Hunter's story is next and it's already shaping up to be amazing, but I really NEED more Myne too. *sigh* I loved him and what he did for Nicole. My recommendation....start this series now as it's just starting. You won't regret it.
