He wants just one night…

After growing up with an abusive, alcoholic father, Army Special Forces Sgt. Brady Scott vowed never to marry or have kids. Sent stateside to get his head on straight—and his anger in check—Brady’s looking for a distraction. He finds it in his beautiful new neighbor’s one-night-only offer for hot sex, but her ability to make him forget is addictive. Suddenly, Brady’s not so sure he can stay away.

…what they need is each other.

Orphaned as a child, community center director Joss Daniels swore she’d never put herself in a position to be left behind again, but she can’t deny herself one sizzling night with the sexy soldier who makes her laugh and kisses her senseless. When Joss discovers she’s pregnant, Brady’s rejection leaves her feeling abandoned. Now, they must overcome their fears before they lose the love and security they’ve found in each other, but can they let go of the past to create a future together?

My Review:
*happy sigh* I do love me a sexy, vulnerable alpha hero and Laura Kaye created one that I think is going into my all-time favorites file with Brady Scott. *gah* I loved his character. He's just a great mix of smart ass/sexy/melt-your-heart with emotion and I loved him. I also really loved Joss's character too...seriously how can you not love a sassy, tatted heroine who works with kids??

I loved everything about the way that this book was written. The story line was fabulous and let me tell are thrust right into the romance, but it works. It really does. Brady just moved into town and is out running when he meets Joss. She's in a park, waiting for the Labor Day fireworks. He's smitten...well, actually he's a guy, so he's just in lust. He sets about romancing her and it works. They have an explosive few hours and then it's over. They both agree...this was a one-time thing...until they run into each other the next morning because, surprise...they're next door neighbors, which means there's no avoiding each other.

Joss soon discovers that there's a lot more to Brady than just the smooth-talking charming guy that she met in the park and not all of it's good, but that's what makes him such a great hero. He did not have a happy childhood and it's left scars. There are so many layers there that just make you fall in love with him. Seriously, if I could become involved with a make-believe character...I call dibs on Brady!! He's just such a great mix of vulnerable and tough. He has issues that he's trying to work through, but that doesn't mesh with what he's always thought he knew about himself and he's not exactly comfortable with it. He's also really not happy with his developing feelings for Joss.

Then there's Joss. She grew up as an orphan. She needs and wants a family...a relationship...someone to call her own. Brady has made it clear that he is not that guy. BUT they see each other all the time and that makes it so hard to stay apart. She knows she's risking her heart and is trying to protect it, but then he does something incredibly sweet and she just melts. (Let me give you a hint: OMG, this guy knows how to romance. He had moments in this book that left me in tears because they were so incredible sweet and thoughtful. Seriously...heart. breaking.)

Just so perfectly done for my tastes...seriously, I LOVED THIS BOOK!! Every scene. Every twist. Every emotion and angst filled moment. Everything. Just. PERFECT. Bravo, Laura Kaye!!! Definite contender for one of my Top Reads of the Year!!!
