Story Overview:
Trey Turner may be topping the country music charts but his life has been going downhill since his wife left him five years ago. He’s desperate to make amends for the mistakes he’s made and convince Sierra their love deserves a second chance.

Sierra Brooks is happy for the first time since her divorce. She has a career she loves and a fiancé who loves her. Unfortunately, her fiancé isn’t the only man professing his love. He may be able to offer her safety and security, but will she decide to risk everything for another chance with the man who broke her heart?

My Review:
What an incredibly emotional book. Five years ago, Trey and Sierra's marriage fell apart. It was a year after the death of their newborn baby girl and Trey was running. Running away from the guilt and the grief. He did that by pouring everything he had into his music, touring, and drinking and that didn't leave anything for his wife Sierra who was also grieving, so she filed for divorce. After a couple of years Trey managed to pull himself out of his depression, but he never recovered from the loss of Sierra.

Now he's been put back into a tailspin. A year ago, he witnessed a car crash where a mother and little girl died. The little girl died in his arms and would have been the same age as his and Sierra's daughter. This time, he can't manage to pull himself out of the downward spiral that he's in and his family is worried.

Sierra has stayed on good terms with Trey's family although she hasn't seen him since the divorce. When his sister calls for help, she can't turn her back on the man that was once her whole world.

There is never any doubt throughout this story that these two are totally and completely in love, but there has been so much hurt and betrayal between the two of them. Sierra isn't willing to risk her heart to Trey again.

I immediately connected with both of these characters and got sucked into this emotional story line. Trey is so depressed at the beginning of the book. He's this huge Country music star, but he's lost everything when he lost Sierra. He's drinking heavily and he can no longer compose music. His pain is literally palpable across the page. You want to just give him a huge hug, but that doesn't change the fact that he treated Sierra horribly prior to their divorce which is hard to forgive.

Sierra is a strong emotional character. Trey was awful and left her destitute (although in his drunken state after the divorce, he wasn't even aware), but she overcame all of that and founded an incredible charity for parents who've lost children. She knows that she'll never get over her love for Trey, but is willing to settle for a nice friendship with her new fiance. She isn't willing to let him trample her heart again.

I love a good book with angst and this one has tons...so yep, I was a happy reader. It also has a fantastic setting in the music business in Nashville. Trey and Sierra are both songwriters and there are some gorgeous songs throughout the book. In addition, there is a fabulous cast of characters that I can't wait to see more of because this is a start to a series...LOVE THAT!

It does sounds like a great combo of location and emotional connection. I love when you connect with characters and care about what happens to them!
