Story Overview:
A curse can erase her from his mind, but never from his heart.
…and the Beast, Book 1
After three years at war, the High Lord of the Forest returns to his lands, a victorious wolf leader intent on claiming his mate. Instead Ciar finds an empty bed and a court with no recollection of the woman he loved. Following her long-cold trail proves far easier than facing what awaits him at the end.
Sabine’s first instinct is to beg her beloved to leave. The High Lord’s mother hired a witch to curse Sabine, desperate to wipe the lowborn wolf from her son’s mind. But the spell worked too well, and Sabine has vanished from the thoughts of everyone who sees her. Including her own family.
The edges of his memory already blurring, Ciar and Sabine must race to find a way to reverse the spell. Yet every searing moment together is not enough to stop the curse’s inexorable progress. His only chance is to bind Sabine to him too tightly to be forgotten, before she disappears once and for all.
Warning: This story contains cruel betrayal, destined love, vile curses, smoldering reunions, wicked deeds between wanton shapeshifters and a happily-ever-after worthy of any fairy tale.

My Review:
This book has a definite fairy-talesque quality to it. A wicked witch, a cruel mother, an awful curse, a lost love, BUT that means that there is a happily-ever-after too.

Overall, this was a highly entertaining read. The storyline is wonderful...full of angst and heartache. You can't help but to feel totally empathy and heartbreak for Sabine. Her entire world has forgotten that she exists for the 3 years that Ciar has been gone. She has been entirely alone that entire time. Then he comes home, remembers her, but she knows that this memory will be gone within a few days. It's cruelty at it's highest level...a tiny bit of hope that will then be snatched away from her with time.

This is definitely a HUGELY emotional novel and could have been seriously amazing because of that. Unfortunately, that is where this book fell short for me. The emotions weren't explored to their full potential. I know that this is a short novel, but if just a tiny bit more had been added to it, it could have been truly a wonderful book. As it stands, it's entertaining and a fun little book.

Ciar is true Prince-Charming material...willing to do whatever he needs to for the love of his life. Even when he forgets Ciar, he still realizes that something is not right and goes searching for a solution to that. He doesn't give up even when Sabine has.

Sabine has lived the last three years in an almost feral-like existence. She has resigned herself to her fate and has no hope left. She looks at the few days with Ciar as a gift and only wants to embrace this time until she is alone again. Her life is very bleak and sad...and she is fully prepared to end it after he forgets her. See, really emotional!

One of the descriptions that I read of this book said that this was book 1. I look forward to seeing where Moira Rogers goes with this series. So far, I am intrigued!

I can only imagine how difficult highly emotional stories are to write. It's too bad you didn't completely connect with that part of the story. It sounds very interesting though. Nice review Christi!
