Story Overview:
SSA Rain Christiansen used to be the agency’s golden boy. It just takes one moment of weakness, one slight, tiny, itty-bitty paranormal sighting, and all of a sudden he’s the agency’s embarrassment. His boss gives him one last chance to redeem himself—go down to Brickell Bay, play nice with the local police, and leave the ghost sightings behind. Rain is determined to do exactly that, even if it kills him.

Cold-case detective Daniel McKenna’s latest investigation is going nowhere fast. Five years earlier, high school student Amy Greene went missing after leaving her part-time job and was never seen again. Daniel is glad to finally have the FBI help that his department requested, even if it does come in the form of his ex.

It doesn’t help that Rain is pretty sure he’s falling in love with Danny all over again—if he ever stopped. Add to that the frustration of seeing ghosts at every turn while he works a case that’s stalled in its tracks, and Rain is starting to wonder if second chances and happy endings are just for fairy tales.

My Review:
This book was pure perfection. There's a bit of a paranormal twist to the story since Rain sees ghosts. And even that was awesome. Rain was born to two hippy parents. He has a twin sister named Sky whose just as hippy-dippy as his parents. Rain is the straight-laced, serious one in the family, but he's the one who's being followed by ghosts...when anyone of the rest of his family would be better suited to handle it.

The thing is...the ghosts are ruining his life. Rain is a profiler for the FBI and to have an FBI agent talking to ghosts isn't something that can just happen. He's coming off two months forced leave, but no one trusts him yet so he's been sent to a distant office to work on some cold cases.

Coincidentally, the detective in charge of the cold case Rain is working just happens to be his ex that he dumped....and his eccentric family lives there, too. So, yeah, this should be fun and that's before the ghosts who trail him everywhere including ones that are involved in the cold cases.

I've always loved the humor in S.E. Harmon's stories and this one is no different. The snark is brilliant and kept me laughing and entertained all the way through reading the book. I loved reading this book.

And then there are the two guys who are still so desperately in love while trying to work together and maintain their professionalism.

Everything about reading this book made me happy. I'm so happy that I have it in print so I can re-read it. I HIGHLY recommend the story. It was fantastic with some brilliant side-characters...Sky, Ethan, and the imaginary Earth (that scene...LMAO).

I loved this book!!
