Story Overview:
Does the past ever really stay in the past?

Nikan can never be complete. He's got a rock group made up of the family he built for himself, more money than he knows what to do with, and a stream of groupies falling over themselves to date him. But none of them are her. The one regret that still plagues him, still taunts him with what he could have had.

Jenny is a survivor. Now running a group home after overcoming life in a cult lead by her manipulative father and watching her mother drink the poison he fed his followers, she fights to keep the light in the eyes of every boy who walks through her doors. Far from simple young love, Nik taught her to trust, showed her how good life could be. Before he formed the band. Before he became a famous rockstar. Before he destroyed it all.

A chance meeting after years of no contact shows the connection still blazes between them. But will they have their second chance at love? Or will the weight of their past crush their future together?

My Review:
I had no idea this book was going to have so much upheaval. Wow, Nikan is hiding some deep thoughts that I never would have guessed before.

Nikan is the glue of the group. As the oldest, he's always been the peace-maker, the one who makes everything alright for everyone else. That isn't a small task, because it's no secret that these guys have some issues. But Nikan has always managed to make everything right. Well, in this book, he's simply tired of it all...the music, the peacemaking, the whole putting everyone else in front of his needs.

He wants one thing...Jenny. And at this point in his life, that's the most important thing...even more important than the band, and you can imagine how well that's going to go over for this crew that count on the band for their stability.

Jenny loved Nikan with all her heart once upon a time. He took that love and killed it...breaking her in the process...by cheating on her. She can't trust him again. That simply isn't something that could ever happen, so she sees no future for them. Even friendship hurts too much, because that love is still there, just tarnished and ruined. But they keep getting thrown together as Nikan works with the boys in the home that Jenny is working at.

I really liked getting to see this side of the band from Nikan's point of view. They're a heavy metal band, something surprisingly that Nikan has never loved. My one complaint about this story is that I wished we'd gotten to see Nikan truly create the music that spoke to him. He's still a musician with a love for song-writing and there were glimpses of his true music, but it never came to fruition in the story. I wanted to see him write something different and give the band a different spin that could work for him for the future. But this wasn't my story, and I did still enjoy what was there.

Overall, this wasn't my favorite of the series, but I did still really, really enjoy it. I'm a sucker for a second chance at love story and the relationship between Nikan and Jenny hit all my emotional buttons. I liked them together...eventually.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
