Story Overview:
Amalie Whitfield is the picture of a blushing bride during her wedding reception–but for all the wrong reasons. Instead of proclaiming his undying love, her husband can be heard, by Amalie and their guests, getting off with someone else. She has every reason to freak out, and in a moment of insanity, she throws herself at the first hot-blooded male she sees. But he’s not interested in becoming her revenge screw.

Mortified and desperate to escape the post-wedding drama, Amalie decides to go on her honeymoon alone, only to find the man who rejected her also heading to the same tiny island for work. But this time he isn’t holding back. She should know better than to sleep with someone she knows, but she can’t seem to resist him.

They might agree that what happens on the island should stay on the island, but neither one can deny that their attraction is more than just physical.

Filled with hilariously scandalous situations and enough sexual chemistry to power an airplane from New York City to the South Pacific, Hooking Up is the next standalone, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy from Helena Hunting, the New York Times bestselling author of the Pucked series and Shacking Up.

My Review:
Oh wow. Before I ever received this book for review, I'd read a sample chapter from the author and knew this was definitely a book I needed to read. The setup for this book is brilliant and so dang funny at the same time it's tragic for Amalie.

Amalie is known as Anarchy Amie to her best friend. The reason for this is that she doesn't always make the best choices and chaos surrounds her because of that. The night she met Lex and Armstrong she was trying to change that. The two cousins both hit on her, but Lex was the tattooed bad-boy that she was most drawn to (something she's learned not to trust...she always makes the wrong choice), so she goes with the safer bet...Armstrong.

The book opens at the reception after Armstrong and Amie's wedding where somehow the entire wedding hears Armstrong get a blowjob by Lex's date. Note...this is after Amie and Armstrong have exchanged their vows. Total fiasco. And the story develops from there when Lex and Amie coincidentally end up in Bora Bora together.

This story is so good. Lex and Armstrong have a crazy competitive history. They were the same age, so they were always thrown together, but while Lex was simply precocious and mischievous, Armstrong's competitive side took a harder, more dangerous edge. He wasn't worried if someone got hurt as long as he bested Lex. For Armstrong that has filtered into adulthood. Lex long ago stepped away from those games, but unfortunately, Armstrong has not and Amie gets caught up in the middle of it all.

With that whole substory of Lex and Armstrong playing out in the background, in the foreground we have the very real, extremely sexy romance between Lex and Amie. OMG, they are so incredibly hot together. I loved them so much...and especially love how much they love to experiment.

Overall this was just a fantastic story. I adored it so much. It's sexy and fun and at times just heartbreaking...all the things that make for an incredible reading experience.

I highly recommend it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
