Story Overview:
She’s making a list—and checking it twice. But is there a nice guy among all her naughty exes? The New York Times bestselling author of Blurred Lines returns with a charming friends-to-lovers rom-com.

When a psychic tells spunky, superstitious Kelly Byrne that she’s already met her true love, she becomes obsessed with the idea of tracking him down before Christmas. Kelly immediately writes up an “Ex List” and starts contacting old boyfriends to figure out which one is the one. When her college sweetheart rolls into town, Kelly convinces herself that they’re meant to be. The trouble is, sparks are flying with someone she’s never given a chance: her best friend, Mark.

Mark Blakely has watched the guys on Kelly’s list break her heart, and he’s not looking forward to watching them do it all over again. Mark’s always been there for her, but the timing’s never worked out for their relationship to be something more. Now, just as Mark is ready to move on, the sexual tension between them is suddenly off the charts. With Christmas morning around the corner, he just hopes Kelly will wake up and realize that everything she wants has been right in front of her all along.

My Review:
From the title this sounds like a second chance at love story...one of my favorite tropes. But it's not. This story is my all-time favorite trope...friends to lovers. Although...gah...there were more than a few times when I wanted to hit Kelly (the heroine) upside the head because it took her SO LONG to get it.

So... the story. Kelly and Mark have been best friends for 10+ years. They share backyards and custody of a dog. They know one another inside and out...including each others faults and quirks. Kelly is superstitious and believes in fate and birth signs and fortune tellers. (She lives by the discretion of her Magic 8 ball.) Mark does NOT. In fact, he hates all that woo-woo stuff.

So on the way home, a weird woman gives Kelly a strange prediction...that Kelly is going to meet The One at Christmas, but that she already knows him. To Kelly, that means she's going to realize that one of her Ex's was really her one true love. So she sets about to meet with all of them, trying to figure out which one is the one she let slip away.

In the middle of it all is Mark who doesn't believe in all this and is obviously having a difficult time with all of Kelly's ex's around, especially since most of them hurt her in one way or another.

The book is told entirely from Kelly's point of view, so a lot of the time the reader is just guessing at what Mark is going through, but the author does an incredible job of showing both sides of the emotional story. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's filled with Christmas spirit and a really hot, sweet, sexy romance.

I highly recommend this book, especially if you like holiday reading. It's a great holiday story!

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
