Story Overview:
Never fall for your best friend…

Pushing thirty, with his reenlistment looming, decorated navy sniper Maddox Horvat is taking a long look at what he really wants in life. And what he wants is Ben Tovey. It isn’t smart, falling for his best friend and fellow SEAL, but ten years with Ben has forged a bond so intimate Maddox can’t ignore it. He needs Ben by his side forever—heart and soul.

Ben admits he likes what he’s seen—his friend’s full lower lip and the perfect muscles of his ass have proved distracting more than once. But Ben's still reeling from a relationship gone to hell, and he's not about to screw up his friendship with Maddox, too.

Until their next mission throws Ben and Maddox closer together than ever before, with only each other to depend on.

Now, in the lonely, desperate hours awaiting rescue, the real challenge—confronting themselves, their future and their desires—begins. Man to man, friend to friend, lover to lover.
My Review:
Wow, this series just keeps getting better, but I can't imagine any story better than Ben and Maddox's. I adore these guys so much, but I'm a huge sucker for an amazing friends to lovers story. And honestly these guys have been BEST friends for over 12 years. That's a ton of history and caring for one a not-romantic way and there's simply no replacing that kind of depth of emotion for the building of a romantic relationship. But that sure doesn't mean that they don't have their problems. Because of their history, they also know all of each other's flaws and where to hit to hurt. That means the depth of pain when things go wrong is deeper, too.

When the book begins, things have gone wrong. A few months back...something happened. The depth of what that was is unclear at first, but we know it changed the basic fabric of how Maddox and Ben relate to one another. It's hurting both of them, and neither knows where they stand with the other. They've both been attracted to one another for years, but the timing has been that they could never pursue that because at any given time one or both of them were in other relationships. But they also want different things in life. Ben is a player...both in life and relationships. Maddox is more steady. He doesn't see himself as a SEAL risking life and limb for the rest of his life. He has other dreams that include owning his own bakery and having a long-term committed relationship.

But it's when they go out on a mission that goes completely sideways that they both have to face what they truly want. They've both had a second chance at life and now they have to do something with that second chance.

Seriously, I cannot express enough how much I love this story. Both these guys are big tough SEALS who care for one another so much, but are so terrified of screwing things up and losing one another. That isn't an option.

I love a hot vulnerable alpha and both of these guys fit that description to a T. I can promise you that this will be a book that I will reread over and over again. It's definitely one of my top ten reads for this year. I'm so happy that its available to buy in print.

This entire series has been phenomenal, but Annabeth Albert set a new high standard with Ben and Maddox. I can't wait to see what she does next.
