Story Overview:
The so-bad-they’re-good alphas of hockey’s Chicago Aces are back in this emotionally charged novel of sex, love, and second chances from the bestselling author of Top Shelf and the Heller Brothers series.

Tanner Bennet hates weddings. They just remind him that he simply isn’t cut out for any kind of healthy, committed relationship—never has been, never will be. After getting rejected by the girl he thought was “the one” all those years ago, he made a huge mistake and married the wrong person. Now that the divorced heartbreaker has reluctantly agreed to be a groomsman for one of his NHL teammates, the last thing he expects is a chance at redemption with the one that got away.

After Marc Dupuis of the Chicago Aces hires wedding planner Katelyn Medford, she discovers that her big break comes with a twist: a reunion with her college sweetheart. The way she dumped Tanner still haunts her. Eight years—and three broken engagements—later, Katelyn knows she’ll never have that kind of innocent, wide-eyed passion again. Still, she and Tanner soon generate enough body heat to burn up the sheets. And even with Tanner’s career with the Aces up in the air, Katelyn’s wondering whether the time is right to let him in for real.

My Review:
Second chance at love stories...I do really love them. In college, Katelyn and Tanner were inseparable, but when he got drafted, she broke up with him. She refused to leave home to follow him, and both their hearts were broken. That was ten years ago.

Now, in a twist of fate, Katelyn is the wedding planner organizing the team captain's wedding. As one of the groomsmen, Tanner is suddenly around Katelyn a lot. That's something he's finding more and more difficult as he's discovered that the feelings he used to have for her haven't gone away.

For Katelyn, this wedding is a huge one. It's a high-profile event. She can't screw it up by acting unprofessionally with a member of the wedding party, but like Tanner, she's finding that more difficult than expected. The more she's around him, the more she remembers the guy she used to love. She's tried to move on from him throughout her life, but it's never worked out.

There are a lot of complications to this relationship that makes this story a good one. It's the middle of the season for Tanner, so he's dealing with normal game life stresses. But to top all that off, he's also in the middle of contract negotiations where it's looking more and more likely that he's going to get traded. He left once before and Katelyn refused to go with him. She's also in the process of building (and finally achieving some success) in her event planning business. Because they've been here before, both are leery about what's going to happen if he suddenly has to move. It makes total sense that neither one is real confident about what's going to happen between them.

One of the things I love about sports stories is the bromance. This book excelled at showcasing that team relationship. Because of the games and the fact that all the guys are involved in the wedding there is a lot of time when the other players are on the page. I love that and the way they're all there for each other. The scene where Tanner was filming was epic. I loved it so much.

Overall, this was just another great installment to this series that I've thoroughly enjoyed. I can't wait for more to come...

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
