Story Overview:
They don’t play for the same team. Or do they?

Jamie Canning has never been able to figure out how he lost his closest friend. Four years ago, his tattooed, wise-cracking, rule-breaking roommate cut him off without an explanation. So what if things got a little weird on the last night of hockey camp the summer they were eighteen? It was just a little drunken foolishness. Nobody died.

Ryan Wesley’s biggest regret is coaxing his very straight friend into a bet that pushed the boundaries of their relationship. Now, with their college teams set to face off at the national championship, he’ll finally get a chance to apologize. But all it takes is one look at his longtime crush, and the ache is stronger than ever.

Jamie has waited a long time for answers, but walks away with only more questions—can one night of sex ruin a friendship? If not, how about six more weeks of it? When Wesley turns up to coach alongside Jamie for one more hot summer at camp, Jamie has a few things to discover about his old friend...and a big one to learn about himself.

Warning: contains sexual situations, skinnydipping, shenanigans in an SUV and proof that coming out to your family on social media is a dicey proposition.

My Review:
Overall: 4.5
Performance: 4.25

Story: 4.5

This was such a good story. I see now why everyone raved about it when it first came out. I loved both Wes and Jamie, and of course I love a good friends to lovers story. This one was awesome just because it was so unexpected for Jamie's character...since he's completely straight and has never had an inkling of anything else...despite that one event when they were both 18. Another thing that is right in my wheelhouse for what I love in my male/male reading. And then there's all the hockey...yeah, there really wasn't anything that I wasn't going to like with this one.

But that single event at age 18 is the impetus for everything....it's that one event that set the tone for this entire book, because it ruined their friendship back then. Now they are both on the cusp of heading into the NHL and back at camp again...having to face one another for the first time since that legendary challenge. First they have to repair their friendship...and then things begin to evolve. Friends to lovers...LOVE that just because of the amazing chemistry and build-up that comes from this kind of story. It's the best kind of reading...where you can't delve through the story fast enough.

I liked it... A LOT!

I loved this story and I have to admit that I really like that there were two different narrators for both guys. I liked that the authors chose to do it like that. It gave a level of depth to the audio that I don't think would have been as obvious otherwise.
