Toss together a quiet barista with a not-so-lawful side-business, a crazy Vietnam Vet, a pothead, a drag queen, family and friends who will not mind their own business, a few stun guns, and a bag of diamonds, and mix them all up with some shootings, a high-speed chase and car bombs exploding, then hang on for your first wild Rock Chick ride
My Review:
Overall.... 4.5
Performance... 4.5

Story.... 4.25

Okay, I've heard the raves about this series for years and when I saw that the first book was on sale at Audible I grabbed it. I totally understand the hype now. I absolutely laughed out loud over and over again while listening to this audiobook. It's pure entertainment and fun.

Indy is the heroine of the story. She's an unapologetic "Rock Chick" who totally would have been backstage with the hair bands of the 80's. I absolutely adored her. Her snark and wit makes this book so much fun. From point A at the beginning of the story, Indy is in WAY over her head as people are trying to kill her. She ends up under the protection of Lee Nightingale, her teenage crush who has since turned into a total badass, although she admittedly has no idea what he really does for a living.

I loved that she's this live out loud, party hard girl who spends her days running her bookstore...and that it was the illegal dealings of her barista who got into this life or death situation. Seriously, so much fun! She doesn't think twice about joining forces with the crazy Vietnam Vet who never leaves his house or her crazy partner in crime who also happens to be Lee's sister.

And then in the midst of all the craziness is the gorgeous romance. This book is hot...which is saying something because it's a LONG time through the novel before anything truly happens between the two. Can we say chemistry? Wow! *fanning self* These two have it in spades. And while Indy has tried to put her childhood crush for Lee aside for years, I adore that he's just been waiting for her to see him again.

There was so much awesome to this book. I loved it. Now I need to find time to listen/read to the rest of the series. There are a lot of them so I see many, many hours of enjoyment to come from this author.
