Story Overview:
Tattoo artist Geoff Gilchrest is convinced his life is some sort of cosmic joke. Why else would a hemophiliac also be a masochist? He’s given himself more than one elbow bleed since puberty just doing what guys do when alone and bored, so forget about whips and chains. How many partners would contemplate playing with someone even a mild flogging could kill?

Gallery owner Robin Brady knows he can deliver what Geoff needs: to be taken to the edge of danger but never beyond. But Robin came to Saugatuck to get away from the leather scene and heal from a betrayal by his former sub, so he’s not sure he should get involved with Geoff. His ambivalence isn’t helped by the fact that Geoff’s unwillingness to communicate about his well-being hits Robin in some very raw places.

Geoff’s hemophilia isn’t the obstacle he thinks it is. Instead, a lack of trust—on both their parts—is what could end them before they have a chance to begin.
My Review:
What an incredibly creative twist for a storyline. Hemophilia is something that most people know about to a certain extent, but there's not much real information out there about the disease. Amelia C. Gormley did an incredible job with this story line. A kink is usually something that a character needs to be sexually satisfied. What happens when that kink could literally kill you?

That's the way life is for Geoff. He's a masochist and wants to participate in BDSM, but since he has hemophilia, a blow could literally kill him. He's scared to put his trust into a Dom...to hurt him, but not to hurt him too much. Honestly even having simple rough sex could endanger his life. Nothing about this is simple.

But then he meets Robin and decides that maybe the risk to his life is worth finally living a little. Thankfully, Robin realizes something isn't quite right and pursues the truth with Geoff. I love how much Robin puts Geoff's health and making sure he's okay in all of this at the very top of his priorities...even when Geoff doesn't do the same. I loved Robin so much for that.

The book is a great balance of sexy, hot romance intertwined with all these health issues. Who thought that everything about this book could be so sexy? I love how Robin found incredible alternatives to beating to give Geoff the pain high he needed. Again...huge kudos to Amelia C. Gormley!!

I enjoyed the story line set-up. I enjoyed the characters. I like it when I feel like I learned something from reading a book and I definitely feel like it with this book. It was simply a fabulous read and I'd definitely recommend it to m/m BDSM fans.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
