Ever the responsible eldest brother, Caleb Pierce started working for his father’s luxury contracting business at a young age, dreaming of one day sitting in the boss’s chair. But his father’s will throws a wrench in his plans by stipulating that Caleb share control of the family business with his two estranged brothers.
Things only get more complicated when demanding high-end home designer Morgan hires Caleb to build her a customized dream house that matches her specifications to a T—or she’ll use her powerful connections to poison the Pierce brothers’ reputation. Not one to ignore a challenge, Caleb vows to get the job done—if only he can stop getting distracted by his new client’s perfect…amenities.
But there’s more to icy Morgan than meets the eye. And Caleb’s not the only one who knows how to use a stud-finder. In fact, Morgan is pretty sure she’s found hers—and he looks quite enticing in a hard hat. As sparks fly between Morgan and Caleb despite his best intentions not to mix business and pleasure, will she finally warm up and help him lay the foundation for everlasting love?
This is the first book in a new series and I'm here to tell you right now to get in on the ground floor of this one. I loved this book so much.
Cal is the oldest of three sons. He's the one that stayed home to work with his father (his extremely difficult father) in the family construction business. The business is VERY successful, but Christian (the boys father) was never open to the changes the guys wanted to make...so Tristan and Dalton left. But now Christian has died, leaving the business to the three sons with huge stipulations. They all have to live and work together and turn a profit over the course of one year.
The main problem is that the three brothers haven't been on speaking terms in years. Cal is the construction guy. Dalton is the real estate guy. And Tristan is the woodworking artist. They all have VERY different ideas about how the company should look. But they're on a timeline so they have to make this work or else lose out on their family legacy...something none of the boys want to happen.
To add even further complication to the matter is Morgan. She's a high-powered designer who comes in and handles building projects for her clients from start to finish. Pierce Brothers are the best, so she wants them on her very high profile job. Cal has no desire to build a vacation home for rich snobs that will rarely visit and enjoy it. He has other more meaningful projects already lined up. But Morgan won't take no for an answer and she sabotages all his other projects. As if things weren't tense enough already at Pierce Brothers, this doesn't exactly set them off on the right foot for their six month project.
This book is written in pure Jennifer Probst style. There are tons of funny, laugh out loud moments. Morgan is charmingly imperfect, despite her efforts to appear otherwise. Cal is pure alpha and all he wants to do is mess with Morgan's pure white facade. There are fabulously emotional moments and witty moments sprinkled throughout the story. I loved the home-building setting. From Morgan's interesting decorating style to Tristan's amazing woodworking skills, there were great visuals created by the author throughout the story.
I loved reading this first novel and cannot wait for book #2. The heroine for that book was introduced in this one. Where the heroine in this one was all white and perfection, the next heroine is all black and attitude...and her back story played against the brothers is going to make for a fantastic read. I can't wait!
I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
