Now that Margo has completed veterinary school, she’s ready to fulfill her dream of living in the Bay Area. Unfortunately, she’s drowning in student loan debt and the only places she can afford are dumps. Luckily, one of her uncle’s Army buddies needs a roommate.
Although Zeke’s place is a perfect fit for Margo’s budget, he is not what she expects. He’s much younger than her uncle, and he’s melt-your-panties hot. She doesn’t want to fall for him, but it doesn’t take her long to realize that Zeke is the perfect fit for her, regardless of their age gap. Too bad he’s so obviously still in love with his ex-wife…
First things first...this is a novella within a series, but you absolutely do NOT have to read the series to be able to enjoy this novella. While it falls within the world, the stories really have no bearing on one another at all. Pick this one up to check out this author's writing. I think you will enjoy it and then you can check out the rest of the series.
This book is about Margo and Zeke. Margo is a new veterinarian starting her first job in the city she's always wanted to live in...San Francisco. But as a new college graduate, money is super tight and SF is not a cheap place to live. Through her godfather, Margo finds Zeke...a man 11 years her senior who worked with her godfather in the military but now handles the logistics for Riley's jean company.
Zeke lost the lower half of his leg on his last deployment in the military. At that point in time, his marriage was already over, but his ex-wife still was instrumental in helping his recovery. Zeke is a loner, but he finds himself quickly charmed by his new roommate.
This is a novella, so it's a quick read, but I didn't feel like it lacked depth in the story at all. Just the opposite...I fell in love with the two characters and was thoroughly entranced by their romance. They begin as friends and I do love a friends to lovers story.
Margo is a veterinarian so there are some great scenes with her job. By nature, she's a compassionate understanding person. She's the perfect fit for Zeke. He's spent most his life in the military. He's a very stoic, regimented guy. Margo eases his personality. He's more relaxed and definitely happier around him.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and HIGHLY recommend it. It's just a really, really good one.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
