Story Overview:
Welcome to The Buoys, a West Coast haven where love comes in with the tide. Perfect for readers of Jill Shalvis and Susan Mallery, the Fishing for Trouble series features three unforgettable brothers—each of whom is a great catch.

Major league pitcher Liam O'Donnell knows his best days are probably behind him, but that doesn't mean he's ready to retire and become a fishing guide. Still, after all the time he's spent chasing his dreams, he owes it to his brothers to pull his weight around the lodge. The Buoys is their father's legacy, and they can't let some developer take it from them. The one snag Liam isn't counting on is a blast from the past: his ex-wife.

The moment Kate Hadley steps out of the seaplane, she knows this assignment is going to be trickier than she thought. She has to persuade the owners to sell—and one of them is Liam O'Donnell. Ten years ago, she made the biggest mistake of her life when she married Liam during a fling in Vegas. Now he's her only lifeline in the middle of nowhere. Kate's trying to keep things cool, but Liam just reminds her of the scorching few nights they spent together—and tempts her to make new memories that are just as steamy as the old.

My Review:
This was a great first book for this series. I'm really excited about all the books to come. This book was about Liam. Ten years before he married Kate for five days in Vegas. At that point he was an up and coming pitcher who had a sudden realization that marrying her could derail his dreams. So he left in the middle of the night, sending her divorce papers, and never speaking to her again. But he's never forgotten her (I loved his browser history on his phone.)

When Kate got married to Liam, she was at the low point of her adult life...without a job or a place to live. When he left, he left her with a bag of Doritos and little else. But she's worked hard to pull herself up since then. But she never expected her new job to bring her back in Liam's sphere...he's a pro ball player now...since she works in real estate development they aren't exactly running in the same circles.

I liked their backstory, although I never was clear on how exactly they got together in Vegas, but at this point, that doesn't really matter. The fact is they felt their instant chemistry and even 10 years later, that chemistry hasn't waned. While the whole set of circumstances with why Kate is there working on the property with Liam's family is a bit far-fetched, I liked the story and the conflict it presents. Kate has to decide whether she can trust Liam again after he hurt her in the worst possible way. There's no way she can trust him again. And that made for an incredible story.

Their chemistry is perfection and the conflict is made even better by the fact that they are both truly great characters. I loved them both so much. I wanted Liam to have his chance at baseball again, and I wanted Kate to achieve her dreams too. And for them both or either of them to achieve their career goals, it means that they can never have a future. That's great conflict, and the author did an amazing job setting up all the twists and turns.

I really liked the setting, too. The family lodge is very remote and it provided a great backdrop for the story. I can't wait to see what they do with the resort as the story progresses.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
