Story Overview:
There’s no way he’ll shake this off…

Trevor Daniels is feeling aimless. A recent college grad, he’s not sure what to do with his useless degree, and his family all but abandoned him after he revealed the truth about himself. But a friend’s suggestion that he take his chances on a reality show aimed at finding the next big boy band strikes a chord with him—until the show’s producers convince him to act like he’s in a relationship with a guy who’s not at all his type. It isn’t exactly love at first sight for Jalen Smith either—but lust just might push them in an unexpected direction. If only their secrets weren’t even more twisted than their sheets, threatening to cost them the win—and each other…

My Review:
This book, like the one before it, is just feel-good reading. The story takes place in the middle of a reality show as three groups battle it out to earn a music recording contract.

Trevor only agrees to the show because they offer free room and board, something he desperately needs since he's about to be homeless. He's graduating from school and his parents disowned him when he told them he was gay over spring break. Now his religion and music degree is useless because they won't let him work in the family church. He's lost and alone and overwhelmed. To complicate things, he's also trying to learn how to deal with a new diabetes diagnosis. There is all kinds of stress in his life that is just compounded when he gets to show and realizes that he's part of the "gay band" and that he has to pretend to be boyfriends with one of the guys. Not exactly easy for a guy who is barely out of the closet.

There is so much to love about this story. Jalen is a adopted kid in a family of adoptees who has two mothers. Their whole family redefines the norm and is the complete opposite of what Trevor is used to. And that theme of family and what makes a family runs throughout the entire story. I loved that especially as the story line evolved. Jalen has a few hang-ups too, but at his heart he's a caretaker. He just wanted to envelope Trevor in love and safety. Seriously, how can you not fall in love with a hero like that. And the visuals of him being a body builder just enhanced the visuals of the story...I like that little eye candy in my head as I read.

The backdrop of the TV show was perfect, too. Trevor and Jalen are paired up with the Carter/Carson couple who are just too perfect for words...maybe too perfect. I loved it as the story evolved and their cracks began to show and they became more human, not just cartoon-type-characters. They had a great character arc alongside the main characters and that made the story just that much better. The music was phenomenal even though I was only reading about it. Annabeth Albert does an AMAZING job taking you into the music with her written word and that's an unbelievable talent that made this story so good to read.

I loved so much about all of this and I'm even more excited now that I saw Michelin is one of the heroes in the next book of the series. I loved him in this book, but he's so alone. He needs an HEA too.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
