Perfect for fans of Shayla Black and Lexi Blake, the deeply sensual new Birmingham Rebels series introduces an unforgettable team of chiseled football gods—and the daring, provocative games they play behind closed doors.
Birmingham Rebels offensive linemen Beau Perez and Cass Zielinski are inseparable, on and off the field. Cass, the captain with the cowboy swagger, is a loose cannon. Beau, the veteran tight end, is cool under pressure. And ever since they were caught on tape in a steamy threesome, their exploits have fueled more than a few tabloid headlines—and naughty fantasies.
Marian Treadwell knows all about the video. And now that she’s the Rebels’ new assistant offensive coach, she can’t look at Beau and Cass without picturing their hard, naked bodies—with her pressed in between. Marian would like nothing more than to indulge those impulses, but she knows better than to get too close to her players, a bunch of adrenaline-fueled alpha males who don’t always follow the rules.
Just the thought of sharing the gorgeous yet guarded Marian drives Cass wild. At first, Beau isn’t sure she’s right for them . . . and lately, all he desires is a little alone time with Cass to explore their new intimacy. But it’s only a matter of time before Cass breaks through both of their defenses. Because when seduction is the game plan, he always plays to win.
Broken Play is intended for mature audiences.
Once upon a time, I really devoured menage stories, but then I discovered the joys of reading m/m and my menage obsession kind of fell by the wayside. Not any more. This book reminded me just why I've always loved menage stories so much. OMG, there was so, so, so much to love about this book. And I really did love every single bit of it.
This book is about an NFL football team in Alabama that's trying to get off the ground. As a result, it has a core group of misfits trying to build a cohesive team. Among those are Cass and Beau, two best friends who come to the team as a package deal, after a YouTube debacle showing them having sex with a woman at the same time. Also new to the team is Marian. She's an assistant coach thrilled to have her chance at coaching...finally. She's not going to blow this chance by getting involved with the two most notorious playboys in the NFL.
But you know, this is erotic romance...that isn't going to fly for long. As with most menages, you have to go into reading a book like this willing to suspend a certain amount of disbelief. (For me, that came from the whole female coach screwing her players and that's not a HUGE issue, especially since they are still at camp when the teams are still being settled.)
What made this work for me truly was Beau's character. I loved how he's the one with the really shady history in the NFL, but he's really the voice of reason in this threesome now. He's the one who observes, who sees, who knows what the other two need...even before they know it. Personally, I think a lot of that comes from what he's been through and having to face up to his own demons. He's learned to be analytical about stuff, especially the hard stuff.
And you know this book is going to be sexy. Wow, Samantha Kane brought her A-game for the sex scenes in this book. So hot! And that final scene had to be seriously tough to negotiate in her head...I mean really, that is a LOT of body parts to direct through a scene. But for me, it worked...although be warned...if you have issues with a group dynamic, you might have issues with the way the story goes. I personally liked that twist to the story line and am excited to see how all that plays out in consequential books to come in the series.
Overall, I really liked it. I loved Beau and Cass and the new ways they find to connect in this book and how Marian's influence changes the dynamic between the two of them, too, especially since they've been together for a few years. I liked the whole story of how the team is floundering to find their foothold and how all these pieces will come together to make it work. And I like the sexy times in the book...those worked really, really well.
Note: At the time of writing this review (Nov 12, 2015) the book was on sale for $.99...serious bargain. Buy it if you like menage/sports stories. You won't regret it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
