Celestial Springs Salon Book #2
Coming home isn't what Autumn Jones wanted to do, but when one no longer can afford the wanderlust, one has to go home.
But as soon as her wallet fills back up, she's gone again.
No strings on her, not now, not ever.
At least, that's what she thinks, until she runs into the one thing that always made her stumble.
Louie Castle. Now a police officer for Barrum, Louie upholds the laws for the city. Though bumping into Autumn immediately makes him want to forget the rules he'd pledged to uphold.
How did the red head get a hold of him so fast and so hard? Especially when he knows she'll be out of his life as quickly as she came back.
The last thing Autumn wants is to be a police officer's perfect little perfect wife. Even if it is for Louie.
Some loves cannot be forgotten, even if they don't work.
This is the second book of the series that's centered around the Celestial Springs Beauty Salon. Mom's name is Celestial Springs (she's a bit of a hippie) and her girls are named Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Summer was the heroine in the first book. Autumn is the heroine in this book.
Autumn takes after her dad (who she never remembers being around). She has a bit of wanderlust which is a problem for Louie...the guy she's been involved with on and off over the years. Louie is a cop firmly entrenched in this town. He never plans to leave. Autumn is counting the days until she can leave. There's no way they can EVER work, although they both have definite feelings about the other.
Autumn is a hard character to love. Despite the history she hints at, she's just so immature. I had a hard time with her and her attitude a lot of the time. On the other hand, I loved Louie. There are hints about Louie's depths in that he checks on Autumn's family and mom, even when she's not in town (which is most the time). He's also very cognizant that getting involved with a cop isn't the easiest thing. He works at a very dangerous job.
And I loved the details that Louie's job added to the story...from his K9 partner to his help with Autumn's brush with illegal activities, I liked those little moments where we got to see more of his cop side.
So a bit up and down, but this book was incredibly readable. I was entertained and never once thought about setting the book down. I personally didn't connect with Autumn's character, but overall, I still enjoyed the book. But it will be interesting to see what happens in book #3. Winter is another difficult character...older than Autumn by 10 years and she's a bit icy. It will be interesting to see the man who manages to melt her heart.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
