Secrets.
Everyone has one.
Some are bigger than others.
And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you ...
And some will end you.

Kate Sedgwick’s life has been anything but typical. She’s endured hardship and tragedy, but throughout it all she remains happy and optimistic (there’s a reason her best friend Gus calls her Bright Side). Kate is strong-willed, funny, smart, and musically gifted. She’s also never believed in love. So when Kate leaves San Diego to attend college in the small town of Grant, Minnesota, the last thing she expects is to fall in love with Keller Banks.

They both feel it.
But they each have a reason to fight it.
They each have a secret.

And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you …
And some will end you.

My Review:
Overall.... 5.0
Performance... 5.0

Story.... 5.0

Before reading/listening to this book, I was told it was amazing, but I was still completely blown away by just how incredible this book was.

There is one character who makes this book...Bright Eyes herself, Kate. Wow. Talk about a character to fall in love with and admire. I'd love to have just a tiny smidgeon of the positivity and outlook on life that Kate does. This is one of those books that challenges you to be a better person, to be a more positive influence on those around you, to live more. The story is gorgeous just because her character is so beautiful.

Kate has a passion for life...and that shows through everything she does. From making friends wherever she goes, to encouraging those around her, to interacting with kids...she has an incredible zest to her that comes through every single interaction she has. It's admirable and such a joy to read.

Kate is in her first year going to college at Grant. It's obvious from the beginning that her life has not been all smooth sailing...in fact, it's been far from it. And that's what makes her outlook on life so much more impressive. Along the way through her story, you get to see her circle of friends and see how knowing her has enhanced their lives. It's a beautiful thing, an incredible book, and was an even better audio book. The narrators were incredible. I adored Lidia Dornet's voice for Kate. She did her inflections so perfectly...it just enhanced the dialogue in the story so beautifully.

It's an incredibly moving story that will leave you sobbing at the end. But even through the tears, I felt happier for having met Kate for a few hours through the reading of this book. She and Gus have a phrase...Do Epic...that paraphrases the theme of the book beautifully! I loved it and highly recommend it...IF you can handle a super-emotional ending. (Seriously, this is your warning....I had tears rolling down my face for hours at the end of the book.) But I'm so glad I read this one and now I'm dying to read Gus because I need something happy for him...Bright Side was his other half...and that won't be easy for him to recover from.
