Story Overview:
Daniel “Deke” Kane is a broken man, facing the end of his career in the FBI. He’s on desk duty after a botched drug raid left the suspects and two children dead. He’s got one chance to prove himself, or the only thing he’ll be investigating is the Help Wanted ads.

Ryan Griffiths has been on the run for ten years. Forced onto the streets when his father kicked him out, Ryan earns his living in other men’s beds. Finding his john dead in a hotel room drives him under the radar until a favorite client gives him a chance at a safe, clean life. But Ryan’s relatively stable new world shatters when Deke Kane catches up with him.

When Deke’s tasked to take down a drug dealer with terrorist ties and a taste for the dark side of BDSM, his only chance to get close is the suspect’s interest in Ryan, and he convinces Ryan to become a confidential informant. In return, Deke offers Ryan immunity from his past. As Ryan falls under the drug lord’s domination, Deke finds himself falling for Ryan.

My Review:
Ryan is a former rent boy who is trying to get out of the life. He was given an opportunity by one of his former johns...stay out of the club where he used to dance, work at his shop, and he will pay for Ryan to go to college...and this is a sex-free deal. Ryan misses certain aspects of his former life, but knows this is the only way he can get out of it...until the FBI come knocking which threatens everything he's trying to build.

Deke's last investigation went horribly wrong and it left two kids dead. He has nightly nightmares and is on his last chance with the FBI. Even with his record, his boss thinks he's the right guy to handle this investigation, but when he begins to balk at using Ryan as criminal informant, she leans heavily on both Ryan and Deke. If Ryan doesn't do this, she infers that he's going to jail and Deke will be out of a job. Both men are stuck...and that's before they begin to develop feelings for one another.

This book was not at all what I expected. From the cover and description, I kind of expected it to be a really heavy erotic romance. While there are touches of that eroticism in the BDSM scenes (which are overall pretty mild in comparison to a lot of books out there) this book was really more of a romantic suspense. There are bad guys that I never expected, revelations at the end which totally shocked me, and a surprisingly mild level of actual sexual intimacy in the book. Don't get me wrong, this book definitely has sex (and a LOT of orgasms) in it, but for the two MC's the actual sex comes into their story way after their feelings have developed deeply. I loved that because with Ryan, who's had sex for a living consistently for years, the act between the two men meant so much more. Well done to EM Lynley for recognizing the need for that between these two guys.

This book kept me at the edge of my seat simply because I could not predict where the story was going at any given time. I loved that. At this point in my life, I've read 10's of thousands of romantic stories. Very few truly keep me guessing throughout about how the story was going to develop next and this one did. I really loved it and Ryan and Deke...such great characters.
