Story Overview:
When Special Forces Captain Landon Donovan is picked for an assignment with the Department of Covert Affairs, he’s stunned to find his new partner is a beautiful woman who looks like she couldn’t hurt a fly, much less take down a terrorist.

Ivy Halliwell isn’t your average covert op. Her feline DNA means she can literally bring out the claws when things get dicey. She isn’t thrilled to be paired with yet another military grunt, but Landon is different. He doesn’t think she’s a freak and he’s smokin’ hot.

Soon they find themselves facing a threat even greater than anyone imagines...and an animal magnetism impossible to ignore.

My Review:
I LOVED this book. What a great world and a great story. Just the perfect mix of paranormal and military suspense wrapped up in one really sexy story.

Ivy is a cat shifter working for a special branch of the government under the Department of Homeland Defense. Because she's a shifter she has special skills and special treatment. She's the valuable asset in any partnership and the government always pairs her up with a military alpha dude. That's never worked out for her so far. They either look down on her or distrust her and have a huge prejudice against her abilities. She's never been an equal with any of her partners and things have gone bad as a result. Her last partner died.

Landon is a special forces commander...seriously tough and skilled. He has no idea what the government wants him to do with Ivy. They aren't talking and she has a chip on her shoulder, but he soon realizes that she's like nothing he's ever seen before, but he's okay with that. Once he sees her abilities, he sees that she's a serious asset for him as a partner and lets her run with it on their missions.

I enjoyed watching this partnership evolve and just how willing Landon was to accept Ivy and her skills. That says a lot about him as a man and definitely set the story up right for me to love him. On the flipside, I ached for Ivy and what she's had to go through with partners. These guys have the rights to kill her if their mission and her identity becomes known. How frightening would that be when you know your partner wants nothing more than to get rid of you?

I enjoyed the entire set-up with Ivy and Landon. I liked Landon's team and that we got to see them in action before he was recruited for DCA. It helped to know what an incredible team he was leaving behind...they truly are brothers in every sense except blood. I even enjoyed the characters from DCA...especially Kendra and Clayne. It will be interesting to see what the author does with Clayne's character over the series.

It was a great start to the series. A perfect mix for this reader who loves both shifter stories and paranormal. There was tons of action... both the military and high-suspense driven action and smexy action. I loved it and ordered a print copy for my keeper shelf because this most definitely will be a series that I plan to continue to follow.
