Story Description:
Sequel to Bear, Otter, and the Kid Bear, Otter, and the Kid survived last summer with their hearts and souls intact. They've moved into the Green Monstrosity, and Bear is finally able to admit his love for the man who saved him from himself. But that's not the end of their story. How could it be? The boys find that life doesn't stop just because they got their happily ever after. There's still the custody battle for the Kid. The return of Otter's parents. A first trip to a gay bar. The Kid goes to therapy, and Mrs. Paquinn decides that Bigfoot is real. Anna and Creed do... well, whatever it is Anna and Creed do. There are newfound jealousies, the return of old enemies, bad poetry, and misanthropic seagulls. And through it all, Bear struggles to understand his mother's abandonment of him and his brother, only to delve deeper into their shared past. What he finds there will alter their lives forever and help him realize what it'll take to become who they're supposed to be. Family is not always defined by blood. It's defined by those who make us whole-those who make us who we are.

My Review:
Okay, I enjoyed the first book. It was cute and fun and entertaining, but this book was SO MUCH MORE! OMG, I LOVED this book!!! Every single moment reading it.

This book is written just like the first. Bear is the narrator and he's talking to you the reader, but his snark and self-deprication have hit new levels in this book. I honestly wouldn't have thought that was possible, but if anything his narrative voice has gotten even more entertaining for this second installment of the story. Honestly, I couldn't even tell you how many times I laughed out loud while reading this book. And yes, I totally cried too. And then there was a scene where I was laughing through the tears. Yes, it's one of those books. Just brilliantly written.

This book follows Bear, Otter, and the Kid as they transition to their next phase of life...living together. Things *should* be more settled, but they aren't. This is all still very new to Bear and he's having a few adjustment issues, as are Otter and Ty. There are a whole slew of new issues facing this new little family that include custody hearings, therapy sessions, a new neighbor boy (who I ADORE!), Bear dealing with the questionable fact that he's gay, and a few new and old gay friends just to stir up the mix of where everyone stands. There are still many earthquakes and nights spent in the bathtub and some of the sweetest romantic moments between Otter and Bear (one that takes place in the bathtub) that just pull at my heart.

It absolutely is a GREAT book. I'm pretty sure it will make my list of top 10 reads for the year. It had everything in it and when I finished I wanted to tell absolutely everyone about it. The final chapter was perfection and I'm hoping and praying that there will now be a follow-up book for Ty. I would LOVE that!!! I'm just really hoping that this isn't the last that we've seen of this family, although if it is, then I will remain perfectly happy to re-read this book over and over again. It was so good!

(NOTE: They are both really, really good. BUT they both need to be read to understand what all is and has happened. So go, grab both books and enjoy the next 10-12 hours of pure entertainment.)
