Story Overview:
When a tornado meets a volcano, nothing is safe.

Soldier of fortune Prophet Drews always worked alone—until Tom Boudreaux became his partner. But when Tom walked away three months ago, ostensibly to keep Prophet safe, Prophet learned the true meaning ofbeing alone. Everyone knows that Prophet, a Navy SEAL turned CIA spook turned mercenary, can look after himself. Which means he must’ve driven his lover away.

Even with half a world between them, Prophet can’t get the man out of his head. Maybe that’s why he’s in New Orleans in the middle of a hurricane, protecting Tom’s aunt. But the only looter around is Tom, bursting back into Prophet’s life. It turns out that Prophet’s been stuck in Tom’s head—and heart—too.

Their explosive reunion gets even hotter when Tom is arrested for murder. As they fight to clear his name, they delve deep into his past, finding enemies among everyone they meet. Staying alive in such a dangerous world is hard enough, but they soon discover that fighting to stay together is the most difficult thing they’ve ever done.

My Review:
Yes, yes, YES!! I tried to be patient with the awful ending in book #1 and it paid off in this book. Whew! Gah, I love this series and these two characters....SO MUCH!!!

Tom and Prophet are two messed up people. They realize they're screwed up and as a result, neither one wants to drag the other into their drama. At the end of book #1, that left them in a not so happy place, so this book is dealing with the fall-out from that and the fact that whether they want it or not, they need each other and do better as a team. In book #1, we got to see part of the reasons that Proph is so messed up. This book dealt with Tom's screwed up life and took the reader to NOLA during a hurricane. Lots of drama. Tons of action. Lots of details about Tom's history revealed, which I loved because the first book was so Prophet-centric.

The other thing I adore about this book is just the simple chemistry between these two men. They honestly cannot live without one another. They are so good together. They fit...perfectly, and it's a gorgeous thing. Both of them are extremely alpha, but they work because they are both HUGE nurturers and caretakers. When one is down or hurting, the other steps right up and takes care of him. There are little things and touches that they use which are gorgeous....carding fingers through hair, rubbing the back of the neck, caressing down the spine...as a reader, I can literally feel the shudders and the stress relief from this tiny little physical touches that mean so much between the two and their ability to stay sane under highly stressful circumstances.

This book was wonderful and I like where things are going with the two guys. There are at least two more books in this series which I'm assuming will still follow Tom and Proph since there is still a HUGE secret that Proph is hiding. Love, LoVe, LOVE these books! I can't wait for more, but am so intrigued and excited about what showed up on my Kindle after the book...the beginning of a new series featuring Mal and Cillean and it looks like that series will have 3 books. OMG...yay!! In the meantime, I will pass the time waiting for the new books by reading some of SE Jakes old stuff. I definitely need to read the ENTIRE Men of Honor series. I have a new auto-buy author!!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review...BUT I did pre-order the print book. I just wasn't going to wait for that to read it!!
