Story Overview:
She's the only one who can see through his golden boy façade to the broken god within...

Chrysander Notos, Supreme God of the South Wind and Summer, is on a mission: save Eurus from his death sentence, and prove his troubled brother can be redeemed. But Eurus fights back, triggering vicious summer storms that threaten the mortal realm, dangerously drain Chrys, and earn the ire of the Olympic gods who ordered Eurus dead.

Laney Summerlyn refuses to give up her grandfather's horse farm, despite her deteriorating vision. More than ever, she needs the organized routine of her life at Summerlyn Stables, until a ferocious storm brings an impossible—and beautiful—creature crashing down from the heavens.

Injured while fighting Eurus, Chrys finds himself at the mercy of a mortal woman whose compassion and acceptance he can't resist. As they surrender to the passion flaring between them, immortal enemies close in, forcing Chrys to choose between his brother and the only woman who's ever loved the real him.

My Review:
Oooh, this was a good one! I truly loved Laney's character and the challenges that she's facing. It made this such a good book, because she is definitely an awesome heroine that you can look up to. She's almost completely blind and running a horse farm by herself. Not only is it a horse farm, but it's a horse rescue farm where she's taken in abused and mistreated horses. Seriously...huge "awww's" in this book when it came to what the horses have been through.

Then there's Chrys, the God of Summer (i.e. South wind) who literally cannot stand to be touched. It's his season and he's at his prime so he has to be the one to take down Eurus. When a fight goes bad for Chrys, he ends up crashing through the barn roof of Laney's barn, which puts her on the radar for a whole slew of baddies. And of course, Chrys is this awesome, protective guy who cannot stand that he's put her in this position and her blindness makes her especially vulnerable. Her blindness also means that she has to touch him...she relies on that touch to compensate for her eyes. That little twist was great, because he is such a great guy. He's uncomfortable with her touching him, but he's willing to do it to help HER....and then finds out that it comforts him as much as her. Another set of "aww" moments here.

I loved the way that Laura Kaye put this story together. I like the whole premise with Chrys and Laney and how they are both so challenged, but they are both such strong individuals....made even stronger when they are together. I enjoyed the weaving of the story line with all the other Gods and the family intricacies. I loved the scenes when they were all together and am sad that their lives are such (i.e. it causes storms in the human realm when they are together) that they can't get together very often. The fact that Laney had the ability to see when in elemental form with one of the Gods was also a really neat and creative little twist.

Truly, this was a great book. I ADORED the first book, but I think this is my favorite in the series so far. There were several twists that I didn't see coming and although one wasn't my favorite, I could understand the need for it. It's a testament to good writing when an author can make me cry and Laura always seems to manage it. I can't wait for the final book in this great series... LOVE!
