Story Overview:
Ali Winters is not having a good day. Her boyfriend left her, everyone in town thinks she's a thief, and now she's about to be kicked out of her home. Her only shot at keeping a roof over her head and clearing her name is to beg for help from a police detective who's as sexy as he is stern....

After a high-profile case goes wrong, Luke Hanover returns to his hometown for some peace and quiet. Instead he finds a bombshell brunette in a heap of trouble. As he helps Ali put her world back together, the pieces of Luke's own life finally seem to fall into place. Is this the start of a sizzling fling? Or are Luke and Ali on the brink of something big in a little town called Lucky Harbor?

My Review:
hmm, this book is definitely in the running for my favorite Lucky Harbor book. I loved Ali & Luke's story and their characters so much! There was just something about the way that Jill Shalvis wrote the characters in this one....they had a vulnerability to each of them which made them so incredibly heart-warming.

Both the characters are having major life crisis at the moment. While Luke has run away to Lucky Harbor to bury his head in the sand after a case went completely wrong, Ali is fighting resiliently hit after hit. It was interesting the way the each of them are presented. Ali has had a life of really rotten breaks, but she has stayed the most loving, giving, positive person. On the other hand, Luke is pretty embittered at this point in his life, until he begins to watch Ali and how she handles things. He finds himself grudgingly entranced and enchanted.

As a reader, I also found myself entranced and enchanted...just by the pure romance of their story. You can see the feelings between the two of them subtly growing on the page and it is so absolutely fun to read. Neither one of them wants or plans to fall in love, but they can't help themselves. I loved their chemistry and how they kept falling into bed, and then would promise each time that it would be the last time. Seriously, great chemistry.

That....and the resilience of their story. Things are bad....for both of them, and you think they've given up, then they pop back up suddenly ready to fight for more. I loved that aspect of the book. It made for two very memorable, admirable characters that I loved to read about and fall in love with as I watched them fall in love with each other.

I also really loved the glimpses of Lucky Harbor....the senior citizens and friend/firefighter Jack were definitely highlights to the story.

This is definitely a book going into the Keeper pile for many future re-reads! LOVED IT!!
