Story Overview:

When Rowen Black is assigned to the elite unit of angelic assassins known as the Shadowguard, he thinks his biggest challenge will be overcoming his less-than-stellar reputation. But that’s before he meets his match in Scarlet Montgomery.

Beautiful, strong, and with a temper to match Rowen’s own, Scarlet is determined to focus on the Shadowguard and her future as its possible leader. She’s become an expert at keeping what little personal life she has separate from the Guard, all too aware that her position as the boss’s daughter makes it tempting for her fellow warriors to see her not as someone to be respected, but as someone to be protected.

But keeping her distance gets a lot harder when Rowen saunters into the room. Tall, built and exuding menace, Rowen puts the "bad" in bad boy. Their connection is hot, visceral, and instantaneous.

And that is so not in Scarlet’s plan.

When the pair are assigned to a joint investigation, they come face-to-face with their undeniable attraction, forcing Scarlet to consider that the connection is not only physical, but a destiny written in the halls of time.

TEMPTATION'S HEAT is the first adult paranormal romance title from Michelle Zink, and is recommended for audiences 18+.

My Review:
This was an interesting set-up for a series and I like the premise, but these books are VERY short, so there's not a lot of opportunity for follow-up. This particular book basically takes place over two days which in just about any romance, is just too freaking fast to know that you want to live with someone the rest of your life. I don't care how different this world is, and honestly, it didn't seem that different so that you would know that you want to spend the rest of your life with someone after a single day.

But, that being said, I have book #2 sitting here to read and review. I still have hope for the series and that it will show a little bit more of Rowen and Scarlet so that I can believe in them more as a couple. I do really, really like the premise and the quality of writing is great. I even really liked these characters. Rowen is great as the rebel, bad-boy who's just misunderstood and truly a good guy at heart. Scarlet is the underdog in this group of warriors, regardless of who her father is, just because she's a girl, but she's one TOUGH girl. She can hold her own! I just need MORE...hopefully, that happens in the next few books in the series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
