My Review:
Rating: B+

This is a modern (and very erotic) twist on the Gift of the Magi story. Ryan and Megan have been dating for at least a couple of years, but because of their careers they live in completely different parts of Canada and only get to see each other a couple of times a year. They are both tired of it and want to be together. What they don't realize is that each of them have sacrificed their career to surprise the other at Christmas with the fact that they can now live together.

This is the first book I've ever read that involved rope play....I liked it. Really, incredibly sexy. In fact, there was a lot about this novella that I liked. I liked the relationship...that Megan is the police officer and Ryan is the artist. There are great depictions throughout the story of Ryan manipulating his art which provides great ambiance. Speaking of ambiance, I am IN LOVE with the renovated space Ryan lives and works in...that building alone was worth Megan being the one to give up her career. I want to live there. Overall just a great little Christmas erotic read!

Story Overview:
Christmas is the perfect time for Firefighter Ronan O’Rourke to take things to the next level with his sexually adventurous girlfriend. He knows she has feelings for him—and he’s sure of his feelings for her—but when Thea refuses his invitation to sample Christmas in New York City because what they share is nothing more than sheet-burning sex, Ronan sets out to change her mind.

Deep down Thea Moretti knows she cares for Ronan, but she can’t move past her grief over her late husband. Loud music and sex with Ronan are the only things she’s got that her feel alive, so she takes as much of both as she can get. She knows Ronan wants more, but during the darkest time of the year finding her way won’t be easy.

Ronan gambles everything and challenges Thea: one night of passion with him and another man. Can he prove to her that what they share isn’t just great sex but an emotional connection strong enough to last forever?

My Review:
Rating: A+
Heart ache. For so many people, the holidays mean one thing...sadness. Thea is one of those people. Two years ago, her husband died on the cusp of the Christmas season...their favorite time of the year together. She's never recovered although she did take Ronan as a lover on St. Patrick's Day on the advice of her therapist. The problem...she's still not living. She's numb and okay with that. The only time that anything feels somewhat right to her is when Ronan is inside her.

This novella was heartbreaking. Thea is hurting so badly and Ronan is trying so hard to break through that. It's killer to read, but at the same time, it's incredibly gorgeous to read. The author has woven a magical web full of symbolism woven through beautiful, romantic eroticism. I cannot explain just how gorgeous the writing and story telling within this novella is. It's amazing writing...and an amazing story to give you hope through the Christmas season. There are so many people out there like Thea....hurting through the season. Reading this book, made me want to reach out more....to make that connection. Truly beautiful.

Story Overview:
Blindfolds. Handcuffs. Submission.

There's so much Jonah Kendrick hasn't tried, and so much he wants to explore. But just before Christmas he finds a ring box in his boyfriend's desk. Jonah panics. He loves Evan and their sex is hot, but how can Jonah be ready for forever, when there are so many items on his Naughty Bucket List? Desires that might drive Evan away.

Evan's noticed Jonah has been distant. His usually talkative and cheerful boyfriend is preoccupied. The seemingly straitlaced Evan stumbles across Jonah's wish list of sexual kinks, and Evan realizes he may not have to hide his true nature from Jonah after all. The Dom in him wants to see Jonah on his knees, begging, submitting, but Evan isn't sure Jonah's ready to accept what being Evan's sub would mean.

The two lovers must figure out how to share their hidden desires with each other before their secrets permanently damage their love.

My Review:
Rating: B
I liked Jonah and Evan a lot. I liked them as characters and overall, I liked them as a couple. What I didn't get about the story was the shock over a possible marriage proposal after two years together, 14 months of that living together. To me, that seems like a pretty committed relationship, so I had a hard time following Jonah's panic. I think the story would have worked for me better if they had only been together for six months or maybe just a tiny bit longer. Then I could have understood Jonah's panic and Evan's ability to hide his true self for so long.

But with that detail aside, this story overall worked for me. I enjoyed the characters, although they need to seriously work on their communication skills between the two of them....both of them are hiding desires which could make things really amazing for both of them in the bedroom. I really loved the way the story ended on New Year's Eve in NYC..so perfect...and REALLY sexy!
