Story Overview:
A simple one-night stand. No strings attached. A chance for Annie Fogerty to re-establish her self-confidence. A chance for Donovan Masters to add yet another conquest to his endless string of forgettable encounters. But as passion flares between these two strangers, magic happens. Two people who have given up on love find it, only to discard that magic and walk away. Annie must find a way to see through Donovan's stony exterior to find the real man inside. Donovan, with the toughest task of all, must do exactly the same thing—learn who he really is and whether he is worthy to share Annie Fogerty's life. The story commences in flames of passion and ends in actual flames. Annie must place her heart and ultimately her life in Donovan's hands if she is to survive either inferno. Both infernos. Everything!

My Review:

Annie came to a bar... for one purpose, a one-night stand. This is not something she normally does. In fact, she's never had a one-night stand before, but she just finalized her divorce and needs to do something to cleanse herself from her ex-husband. Sex with another man seems like the perfect solution, albeit one that makes her very nervous. So nervous, in fact, that she decides to back out of it with the guy she'd originally selected. He doesn't take it well and that's where Donovan arrives.

Donovan is a guy who does one-night stands. In fact, that's all his relationships are, so when he observes Annie in the bar, he realizes she is not that girl and comes to rescue her when the guy is giving her a hard time. The problem...even though she's not that girl, Donovan is having a really hard time walking away from her. There's a special chemistry between them.

That's the set-up for this book and it's done incredibly well. This is an erotica romance and as such, there is a lot of emphasis on the sex and the sex is HOT. OMG! These two characters have smoking chemistry. Hint: be sure to have your significant other nearby when you read this book. You'll both be better for it. ;o)

The hottest thing about this book for me was Donovan. He unapologetically does not do relationships, but he has no control around Annie. How can you not love a guy who is that affected by a woman and his feelings for her? It's hot and it's sexy and in the end it's incredibly romantic.

This book only took me about an hour and a half to read and that's good because I plan to read it over and over again. Yes, it's that good!

I've always been a fan of Carol's books. And MAN can she write sensuous scenes well.
