Story Overview:
Sarina is scarred. Her L'inar, the curving nerve lines that enable Inarrii to experience their full sexuality, were severed in battle and she can no longer reach completion. Until she accepts a job as bodyguard to the human ambassador John Bennings, and is astonished to discover that they share a mental bond—a mirrored pathway of thoughts that will allow Sarina to climax.
When John's the target of an attack and they are forced into hiding, he's not sorry to be in close quarters with the compelling Sarina. They explore their erotic connection, and John is happy to demonstrate that humans have more sexual skills than Sarina thought.
To prove that she is whole and rejoin her Inarrii clan, Sarina needs John to bring her to climax in public in accordance with tradition. With a roomful of Inarrii and humans watching, will John be willing to perform as Sarina needs—and will their public display make John vulnerable to another attack?

My Review:

I don't know what it is about Sci Fi books, but they just seem a natural fit with the erotica genre. This is book #3 in this series and I've really enjoyed all three books. They take place in a world of the future where earth has just made first contact with an alien civilization, the Inarrii. The Inarrii are a lot like humans physiological...they are just more sexual and have nerve endings on the surface of their skin, called L'inar, which are very erogenous and appear like tattoos. For the Inarrii, they use sex as a mental release and without that, can literally go insane.
Sarina is a soldier and was injured on a mission where her L'inar was sliced and severed. As a result, she's lost her sexuality and her place in her society. She knows that this will be her last mission and that eventually she will lose her mind. So when her L'inar starts reacting to John, things heat up pretty quickly.
John is on an undercover mission where he is supposed to be a mild-mannered mid-level attorney. Getting hot and heavy with his body guard doesn't go with his mission. They are on the precipice of signing a treaty between the Inarrii and humans, but not all species like the thought of this alliance, so there are a lot of dangers on the horizon.
These are two virtual strangers who come together in what turns out to be a life-changing encounter for both of them. But they are both soldiers on very different missions. It's hot and incredibly sexy. It's interesting watching this imaginary world where we are alike in most ways except our sexuality. What one species thinks is completely normal spells trouble for the other species. It's an interesting dichotomy and makes for some really fun reading. It's a great imaginary world to escape into.
