Story Overview:

Once upon a time, he promised her the moon. It's time to deliver.

Louisa D’Angelo used to believe in happily ever after—until the tragic death of her son and the demise of her marriage. Now, five years later, with her life back in order, she has a great career and a wonderful man in her life. So what if the passion and excitement isn't there? In her book, passion and excitement only lead to heartbreak. Then, her ex-husband shows up and upsets her tidy little world.

Gabe D’Angelo never believed in happily ever after—until he met Louisa who taught him how to love and be loved. But their happiness was short-lived. Guilt and grief forced Gabe to walk away. Now, though he's pulled his life together and should be happy, he realizes something’s missing. After seeing her from afar at a family wedding, he knows what it is. It’s Louisa.

The problem is convincing her she's still in love with him.

My Review:

I loved this book. It's no secret that I love a book with good angst and this book delivers. Louisa and Gabe were married and in love, but when their one year old son was killed in a car crash, their world came crashing down around them. Neither one of them knew how to handle their individual grief, nevermind how to get through this tragedy together. As a result, they both ended up grieving alone and bitter and that eventually killed their marriage. They haven't seen each other in the five years since their divorce until it's time for Louisa's brother to get married. Gabe was invited to the wedding and he can't pass up the opportunity to see Louisa again.

Running into Gabe is the last thing Louisa expects to do. She has finally moved on with her life after several years of struggling with depression and grief. She doesn't want to see Gabe again, because despite the fact he broke her heart when he left, she still loves him. That's a little hard to explain to the new fiance.

The best thing about this book is that both of these people realize that they still love each other, but neither one of them trusts that fact. It wasn't enough five years ago. Why would it be enough now? It's interesting to watch their growth and maturity as they work through their issues...and not all of them stem from the death of their son. Some were there before that tragedy. It just exacerbated the problems.

I really liked the way that Rebecca J. Clark wrote this book. There's a lot of really heavy and hard feelings throughout the entire story, but it never felt depressing or like it was too much angst. I just really fell in love with these characters and their journey back to each other. I enjoyed reading about them and was thoroughly entertained and enraptured by their love story. This book was everything I love in a contemporary novel...lots of feeling and emotion, but also fun. The overall story was engaging and I loved every minute spent reading this book. Just a fabulous read!
