Story Overview:
Inherited Damnation Series
When Reese Hamilton is abandoned in the snow-laden woods, she must find her way to Dáire McLaine’s cabin—a friend she’s known for years, and the man who makes her pulse triple. Little does she know that a cozy night in the woods will lead to passion they both have been longing to explore. But with the change in their relationship comes something darker and more terrifying, and Reese must confront danger, even death, before she is free to love.
Dáire McLaine will do anything to escape his demonic blood and attain mortality, even if that means defying nature’s laws and manipulating Reese’s thoughts for his own means. But when he delves into her hidden secrets, the staggering emotion he encounters makes it impossible to deny the forbidden longings of his own heart. Yet to love Reese will demand the ultimate sacrifice—his life.

My Review:
From what I can tell this is book #5 in the series of what looks like is going to be 8 books. That's an important fact because I haven't read books 1-4. I have a feeling that if I had read those other books, this book would have easily gotten an A or A+ rating from me. These books are about 8 siblings who are half-demon. They are trying to save themselves from their father's evil influence...and this is where things become a bit murky for me because I haven't read the other books. For the most part, reading this book I wasn't so confused about how it all works that it influenced my ability to enjoy the story, but I sure don't have a good enough handle on the details to be able to explain it to you. LOL!

What I did understand was the love story between Reese and Daire. They've been friends for 5 years...through their mutual acquaintance, Tom, Reese's ex-boyfriend. Reese met Tom 2 hours before Daire, a fact that Daire has regretted ever since because he's drawn to Reese. She's also drawn to him, but she's in a relationship with Tom...and it's not a good one. (Yeah, this is another thing I don't understand about this book...why the heck would she spend 5 YEARS with someone...someone who treats her poorly.... when she's attracted to someone else??)

But again, this book and my enjoyment of it comes back to the incredible relationship between Reese and Daire. They literally are magical together. I could believe in their love for one another even though this book actually only covers a couple of days. They have a bond, that once it's forged, runs incredibly deep. There is a lot of magic and paranormal in this book and at times, Reese felt like she naturally belonged in that world too. I kept expecting something to come out to explain why she seemed to be just a bit "more"... Maybe that again falls to her deep connection with Daire.

Daire...oh my...I did love him and how he was so blown away and overcome by the depth of Reese's feelings. This is a guy who is a romantic at heart, but never realized it. Whoa, I really liked watching his feelings escalate for Reese. He has a mental power which helped them in their connection, but it linked them up through so much more than just a mental push.

I am definitely intrigued by the series. I'd love to go back and read the first four books. Unfortunately, with my review schedule, I have no idea when I can make that happen, but they are all at least on my wish list.
