Story Overview:
"Never fall in love with a cowboy." These words were drilled into Emily Sterling's head since her parents divorced over twenty years ago. But now Emily has returned to her father's ranch… only to find herself face-to-face with jawdroppingly hot rancher Clay Whitaker.

Clay is the resident stud expert at the Last Chance Ranch and isn't so keen on "spoiled" city slickers…until Emily arrives. Now he's showing Emily just what a ranch—and a cowboy—has to offer. And luckily for him, it's an offer Emily can't refuse…

My Review:
I really, really am enjoying these little Sons of Chance novellas. This is the 2nd one that I have read. The first was Should've Been A Cowboy and you can see that review HERE. This is another novel set on the Chance Ranch just outside of Jackson, WY. Clay is in charge of the stud program for the ranch and Emily is the California girl who also happens to be the ranch foreman's daughter.

After the last review, I emailed VLT and she talked about how much she likes writing these romances that happen in such a short amount of time. This is another one where basically the entire story/romance takes place over the span of two days. Normally, I am not a big fan of romances that happen that quickly, but VLT knows how to make it work.

There are a lot of misconceptions about Emily at the ranch, but she is a down-to-earth girl simply floundering to find her place in the world. She hasn't been able to find a career goal that she's happy with and some early brainwashing by her California-loving mother has kept her from ever considering the ranch as anything but a trial. But at age 27, Emily is starting to find herself and one of the things that she is surprised to discover is how much she is really loving ranch-life.

After floundering his entire life through the foster system, Clay has finally found a home on the Last Chance Ranch. He loves it there and he loves Emmett, the ranch foreman, who took him under his wing when Clay was 18. He doesn't want to do anything to mess that up and he realizes that sleeping with Emmett's daughter is just going to complicate matters.

This book and romance is quick, but the passion between Clay & Emily is very believable and I actually enjoyed how quickly it took off. A fabulous quick read for an afternoon full of dreams about sexy cowboys and rustic ranch life.

Now let's look at all three of these gorgeous Sons of Chance (the ones that have released this summer) covers together....

Great Review! I am with you while the romances are quick there is something in Vicki's writing that makes you "buy" it.

"Clay is the resident stud expert at the Last Chance Ranch" <---- I have to laugh at that, because my first thought is: "Yeah, I'll bet he's a stud." ;)
