Story Overview:

Professional mercenary Dare Macintosh lives by one hard and fast rule: business should never be personal. If a cause appeals to him and the price is right, he'll take the mission he's offered. But then the lovely Molly Alexander asks him to help her track down the men who'd had her kidnapped—and for the first time, Dare's tempted to combine work with pleasure.

Fiercely independent, Molly vows to trust no one until she's uncovered the truth. Could the enemy be her powerful estranged father? The ex-fiancé who still holds a grudge? Or the not-so-shy fan of her bestselling novels? As the danger heats up around them, the only anchor Molly has is Dare himself. But what she feels for him just might be the most frightening thing of all….

My Review:
Usually I can pinpoint exactly why I like a book, but this one is a little tougher for me. Overall, I really, really liked this book and I guess that I would have to say that it was entirely because of these characters. The suspense is okay, but it's not the driving force of this book. That truly would have to be the interaction and chemistry between all the key players.

Molly is tough. Wow, is she tough! She's spent 9 days in captivity being tormented, drugged, starved, and assaulted, but she completely maintains her calm. It's mystifying even to Dare. She remains calm and resolute- completely focused on taking it all one step at a time and NOT losing her cool. She feels that she'll let her abductors win if she gives into the terror and she absolutely refuses to do that- strong and tough.

Dare is a total neat freak. He is definitely a guy that can understand the need for staying in control. In fact, he's made a career out of it. Here's how he sees it,
"Hell, honey, I feel responsible for almost everyone. That's not going to change."
"You do?"
That gorgeous mouth of his curled into a sexy smile. "Everyone smaller, older, weaker, younger-"
Molly couldn't help but laugh. "And that covers about everyone."

At first, Dare finds himself fascinated and more than a little impressed with Molly's incredible calm once she regains consciousness. Quickly that begins to develop into so much more as he realizes just how smart she is and how perfectly she fits into his life with Chris & the "girls."

I fell in love with Dare's home right along with Molly. The house, the lake, the dock, Chris' cottage- it all sounded so perfect and created such a perfect romantic ambience for the book. I love that Molly finds calm there and as a writer, becomes inspired again.

This was a fabulous start to this trilogy. I cannot wait for the next 2 books to come...Trace of Fever & Savor the Danger.

Is this the trilogy that was sparked from her Ready, Set, Jett novella?? It sounds pretty good, and the cover looks FANTASTIC. :-D *drooling*

Yes, it is Deanna. This is about Molly, Natalie's sister from Ready, Set, Jett. Natalie & Jett both make an appearance in this one. It was a good book...and yes, the cover doesn't hurt either. ;o) smiles...
