Story Overview:

All roads lead home when that’s where you’ve left your heart.

Compass Brothers, Book 1

Silas Compton always had his eye on Lucy, the veterinarian’s daughter. He was even content to wait for the girl of his dreams to grow up before getting anywhere near her with his family’s double-edged legacy.

Waiting around led to fooling around with his best friend—and an impulsive eruption of desire that Lucy’s innocent eyes weren’t meant to see. Figuring Compton Pass wasn’t big enough for either the three of them or the pain he’d caused, Silas let loose his tightly reined wanderlust and headed for Alaska.

Ten years later, when an oil rig accident sends him home, he braces himself for the reopening of old wounds. Instead he finds himself in the care—and welcoming arms—of Lucy and Colby, whose marriage has plenty of room for the man they both still love. And forgive with all their hearts.

As things start to unravel at Compass Ranch, Silas must dig deep for the strength to assume his rightful place in the Compton family…and lay the foundation for a future with his lovers. If he can forgive himself.

Warning: This book is overflowing with sexy cowboys who like to saddle up and ride each other as well as the woman of their dreams. The likelihood of becoming addicted to their ranch family is high. With three more stories yet to come, beware. You won’t be able to read just one!

My Review:
This was an interesting book- a totally new style for me to read, but I really enjoyed it. Silas left for Alaska 10 years ago- running after Lucy caught him and Colby together. Now he's been hurt in a drilling rig accident and has had to come home to recover. Colby and Lucy are married now, but they both still love Silas and want him to be part of their relationship. It's been 10 years and Silas never guessed that he hadn't totally blown his relationship with both Lucy and Colby. He loves them both and the surprise is that the feel the same way about him.

I have read complaints about the story development in this book, but I thought that it was done really well. All three of these people are really likable. As a reader, you get to know Silas the best because the first part of the story is all about him and his struggles in Alaska. But I felt like the depth of feeling for all three of these characters was really honest. These scenes are really beautiful, really sexy, and even really sweet.

I think that there was an extra level of trust and intimacy because Colby and Lucy have been married for 10 years that wouldn't have been there if they had attempted this relationship 10 years prior. They were able to support and communicate with each other non-verbally which I think helped in a situation that could have been awkward at first. It was also good since Silas is hurt and dealing with a serious injury.

This was a great read- interesting, beautiful, and totally sexy. There are three more books to come in this series. There were some hints as to the story lines at the end of this one. I look forward to reading all of them.

It does sound like it is an excellent read! I like the smexy adult books but I am still on the fence about the 3 or more people involved. Sometimes it is great and other times I just can't buy it.

I agree, Felicia. I think that this one worked for me because the couple had been married for 10 years. Add that to the fact that they had all been good friends 10 years ago and attracted to each other, but not confident enough in their sexuality then to go for it as a menage relationship. It adds a whole level of believability to the story line for me. smiles..
